
One of those is the significant progress it is having during testing of an AI chatbot version of Apple’s personal Siri assistant, developed by a team in Zurich.
MacRumors reports that Apple is testing a completely new architecture — not the current patchwork Siri that punts to ChatGPT — but a standalone LLM designed to eventually replace Siri outright.
Some executives now see it as being «on par» with recent ChatGPT versions, and see it as more conversational and better at synthesizing data.
There are also plans to hook «future» Siri up to the internet and combining data from several sources, just like ChatGPT does today.
So when will this new Siri AI model release? Not at Apple’s upcoming World Wide Developer Conference in June, where Siri is seen more as an embarrasement to be toned down. And it is likely years away.
