ChatGPT-6 is already in the pipeline, with better personalization, memory

GPT-6 should be much more attuned to your personality, and you should be able to make it more attuned to your needs.

For Sam Altman, expanding the memory functions of the next GPT model will be key, he tells CNBC.

Better memory will enable GPT-6 to get to know us better, remember more details around us, and lead to much better personalization.

— People want product features that require us to be able to understand them, he tells MSNBC.

Will remember more about you
The next GPT should therefore remember more of who you are and what you care about, and allow you to create chatbots that «mirror personal tastes,» CNBC writes.

There is also Donald Trump’s executive order on «woke AI» to consider.

The bot should have a «fairly center-of-the-road, middle stance, and then you should be able to push it pretty far,» says Altman.

If you want it to be «super woke,» it should be super woke, he says — and adds that that also goes for those that want it to be conservative.

Everlasting information silo?
The danger here would be that people could easily be trapped in information silos under scenarios like this, and be kept in bubbles by an AI that always agrees with them and encourages already held beliefs.

Therefore, OpenAI is working with psychologists to shape the product and measure wellbeing over time.

Less than 2.5 years away
There is no official deadline for the launch of GPT-6, but Altman says it will take less time to go from GPT-5 to 6 than it took to go from GPT-4 to 5.

GPT-4 debuted in March, 2023, and GPT-5 arrived in August, 2025 — which gives us a timeline of a little less than 2.5 years.
