World Labs releases Marble: detailed, high resolution and «infinite» 3D worlds

Dr. Fei-Fei Li, considered «the godmother of AI,» has long argued that «spatial intelligence» is necessary for training robots how to interact with the real world — and her lab has now revealed their new world builder model to the public.

Those who were blown away by Google’s release of Genie 3, could be equally impressed by what is possible with this new 3D-generator.

Genie can create 720p video for «about a minute,» whereas Marble generates, walkable, photorealistic worlds in stunning detail at 1080p from a single image or prompt.

Stay as long as you like
There are no time limits as to how long you can dwell in the world you created, and «no morphing, no inconsistency.»

That’s a claim that bares some scrutiny, though — as many of the demo worlds available on the showcase at marble.worldlabs.ai only provide a short field of view and the worlds quickly become blurred.

There are some models that are truly amazing — like this render of a hobbit house, stitched together from several edits, and showing the promise of the tech. There is also this abstract scene.

Early beta with big possibilities
The technology goes beyond the mere creation of 3D worlds for robotics, and opens the door to multiverses, says Fei-Fei — where everyone can have their worlds to live in:

«Imagination is boundless»
Marble comes at no cost to the users, and is available in «a limited access beta preview.»

The possibilities are only limited by boundless imagination, Fei-Fei says.

We can likely expect to see a lot of Marble worlds on the web in the days to come, if this takes off.
