Meta acquires AI wearables company Limitless

The new music spinning out of Meta HQ is lately holistic design; bridging devices and their AI offerings, and this buyout seems a nice fit.

Previously Limitless had been producing Pendant, a $99 wearable, well, AI pendant that you could wear as a necklace or attach to your clothes.

This was considered «pipe dream,» and «unfundable» not long ago, but that is no longer the case, says Dan Siroker, Co-Founder & CEO:

Wearables are suddenly in the wind
— The world has changed. We’re no longer working on a weird fringe idea. We’re building a future that now seems inevitable. We’re not alone.

Meta also recently hired Alan Dye, Apple’s interface chief, to lead a studio combining hardware, software and AI integration across all of Meta’s products.

The Pebble’s days are over, but users can export their data, and current owners will be supported for another year.

It’s unclear what the Limitless team will be working on at Meta, but we can pretty much guarantee it will be on AI wearables in Meta’s Reality Labs, as per Meta’s statement to TechCrunch.
