These numbers are so impressive, one analyst says they lack comparison:
Never happened before
— We’ve looked at the IPOs of over 200 public software companies, and this growth rate has never happened, says Meritech General Partner Alex Clayton to Reuters.
The fastest recorded jump of this magnitude for a software-as-a-service company was recorded by Snowflake, which took six quarters to go from $1 billion to $2 billion in revenue, according to the news agency.
Claude coding is a sleeper hit
Reuters’ sources particularly cite strong business demand due to Anthropic’s Claude offerings, which excel at coding.
Businesses seem eager to automate part of their infrastructure, and the shift in the workforce from human to AI coding seems to be accelerating, as supported by these numbers.
OpenAI still raking in more
This kind of revenue, while impressive, fades when compared to OpenAI’s projected 2025 earnings, which are estimated at some $11 billion.
It does however seem that OpenAI is turning out to be more of a consumer facing AI Lab, with 800 million users, while Claude is growing rapidly on the business side.
Anthropic has about 2% of OpenAI’s traffic on Similarweb, Reuters points out.
