The company has just finished a «Series F» fundraising round of $13 billion at a valuation of $183 billion, which will «expand our capacity to meet growing enterprise demand, deepen our safety research, and support international expansion as we continue building reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems,» Anthropic writes.
Doubled since March
This new valuation more than doubles its previous one, set at $61.5 billion in March this year, when it raised $3.5 billion, writes Reuters.
It also makes it the second most valuable company in the AI space, but it’s less than half of what OpenAI is worth at $500 billion, as of yesterday.
Growing all round
The new investment also comes hot on the heels of a staggering growth in annual run-rate revenue, which was around $1 billion in January this year — and jumped to $5 billion in August. This makes Anthropic one of the fastest technology companies in history, they claim.
They also say that they now serve 300,000 business customers, and punters spending more than $100,000 on the company’s products has grown 7x in the past year.
— We are seeing exponential growth in demand across our entire customer base. This financing demonstrates investors’ extraordinary confidence in our financial performance and the strength of their collaboration with us to continue fueling our unprecedented growth, says Krishna Rao, Chief Financial Officer of Anthropic, adding:
— From Fortune 500 companies to AI-native startups, our customers rely on Anthropic’s frontier models and platform products for their most important, mission-critical work.
