Anthropic debuts Claude Duet, its always-on agent assistant in the cloud

Like Muse and Dot, Duet doesn’t need your computer to complete tasks. (Picture: Anthropic)
Available to select Pro and Max subscribers as a research preview, the persistent agent runs on its own virtual computer with a browser. It uses Opus 5.5 and has access to some 6,000 app connectors found in Claude marketplace.

Duet will send you «a short brief» every morning using its judgement to prioritize tasks you may want to have it complete.

It then checks into your apps and messages periodically (because constantly would cost too many tokens) and messages you when something needs your attention.

The agent can handle almost any task, including health or personal finance if you let it, but stops short at requests for credit card numbers and government identification, and it doesn’t sign or message without permission. It is also barred from trading securities or moving money between accounts.

Duet was made for work and «professionals of all kinds,» and might not be as functional as a personal assistant, Anthropic cautions.

It is available from a waitlist in its own app for iOS, Android and on claude.ai. It uses the same token pool that Claude does on your account.
