Responses of «Hmm… something seems to have gone wrong» were permeating on ChatGPT’s services across the globe, but the issues have largely been resolved.

The outage was affecting everything from the web service, to iOS/Android/Windows and macOS apps, across GPTs, Deep Research, Operator, Codex, Sora and Image Generation.

Intensifying errors
Downdetector collected reports on the outage since 0900 CET/0300 EST, and it seemed to peak in the early hours today.

On OpenAIs status page, the message stated it had been been ongoing for five hours this morning:

— Some users are experiencing elevated error rates and latency across the listed services. We are continuing to investigate this issue, the page said.

For a long while, it simply repeated the wording above.

UPDATE: The status page as of 1430 CET/0830 EST says they have identified the root cause of the issue, and are working to implement a fix.

UPDATE 2: The status page now says they have mitigated the issue, but it might take a few hours to fully recover:

– We are continuing to work on implementing the mitigation and we are now seeing recovery on API. Full recovery across all listed services may take another few hours. We will continue to provide updates as progress is made they say
