Google rolls out scheduled tasks for Gemini subscribers

Scheduling with access to your mail and calendar can start your day.

Pro and Ultra subscribers in the Gemini app can now preset prompts or tasks at any given time, a feature that may be quite helpful for some.

They say this can be useful for frequently occurring tasks, like getting a morning news summary or providing ideas «for your blog.»

Works with Google apps
Gemini does of course also work with your Google Calendar and Gmail, and can provide you with a list of unread emails and your daily schedule.

You can also use it for one-off tasks, like setting it up to provide you with the winners of that awards show that trails long into the night, and get the news in the morning.

OpenAI still experimenting
ChatGPT previously supported scheduled reminders on mobile, but that feature was quietly discontinued in 2023. It had en an experimental model called “4o with scheduled tasks,» that had a lot of these features, but that has also fallen on the wayside.

OpenAI is now testing a new feature called «Tasks» for Teams and Enterprise users. It can track goals and sub-tasks across chats, but doesn’t support time-based scheduling or app integration like Gemini.
