OpenAI interested in buying Chrome

Google could be forced to sell Chrome, and Openai is interested in buying it.
Google be forced to slll Chrome, and Openai is interested in buying it.
If the the prosecution prevails in the current USA vs Google antitrust case, they could be forced to divest the most popular browser on the planet.

Now OpenAI’s ChatGPT head of product, Nick Turley, said in open court that they «would be interested» in buying it, according to Reuters.

Google for its sake have no plans to sell Chrome, of course, and plan to appeal any ruling with such a result. So this enticing little idea is likely years away.

Opening up search
Also in the trial, Turley said that OpenAI wanted to use Google search for its ChatGPT chatbot, but was «shot down» in the effort by Google.

— We have no partnerships with Google today, he testified.

Part of the proposed remedies for the antitrust case is to make Google share search data with competitors, and that would be good for the likes of ChatGPT, Turley said.
